A Guide Who Actually Knows the Terrain

Even the most resilient among us hit a point where we need someone in our corner.

I didn’t learn about the complexities of life solely from a clinical textbook. I learned them by living a life that demanded adaptation. I grew up in a chaotic household in a small town. I joined the military young, packed my bags, and lived and worked all over the world. I’ve raised a family, weathering the high-altitude successes and the hard-learned failures that come with it. I have lived a full life, and I bring every ounce of that diverse, real-world experience into our sessions.

I Don’t Just Talk the Talk. I Do the Work.

I am not a clinician who sits on a pedestal. I am a fellow traveler.
I continue to sit in the client’s chair in my own therapy, actively working through the emotions of my past and present so I can build a better future. I know exactly how heavy it feels to open up, and because I walk that same path, I have a profound respect for the vulnerability it takes for you to show up to our sessions. As you learn and grow, so do I.

Finding the Quiet

After a lifetime of movement, I established my base of operations in a quiet, rural community in Central Washington. I came back to the country for the pace, the people, and the grounding rhythm of the agricultural cycle in the fields around me.

Today, my life is anchored by my amazing wife and wild loving dogs. We live in a 1950s farmhouse—close enough to the city to enjoy great food and culture, but far enough away to leave the urban stress and anxiety exactly where it belongs. When I am not working with clients, you can find me outdoors, spending time with friends, or dreaming up the next great adventure.

Life is an amazingly complicated thing. You don’t have to navigate it alone.
I look forward to our journey together. Let’s figure out what comes next.

VA Nexus Letter

You Speak Military. The VA Speaks Clinical. We Are the Translator.

You know what you survived. You stood firm when it was required, carried the weight, and absorbed the toll it took. But when you try to explain that to civilian doctors or the VA, the message gets lost. They don’t understand the culture, and you shouldn’t have to water down your reality to make them get it. A VA NEXUS Letter bridges that gap. It takes your ground-level truth and converts it into the definitive medical terminology the VA demands to approve your claim.

You Need a Provider Who Speaks Military, VA, and Clinical.

When you are advocating for your future, you need an evaluator who already understands the baseline.

I am your translator. You can speak to me veteran-to-veteran. No filtering. No explaining the basics. As a retired Infantryman, I know the heavy reality of wearing the uniform. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in trauma and moral injury, I pivot. I take your unfiltered history and translate it into the air-tight, evidence-based clinical language the VA requires.

For years, I was the anchor for my team, squad, platoon, company—ensuring those to my left and right were protected, stepping up to bear the heaviest burdens, and refusing to let anyone be forgotten. Today, my mission is ensuring your story isn’t lost in translation.

Your Arsenal for $500 Flat

No hidden fees. No endless billing. Just a straightforward, comprehensive process designed to build the strongest possible foundation for your claim.

Every Nexus Letter package includes:

  • The Reconnaissance: A deep-dive review of your military and medical records to uncover the critical links.
  • The Sit-Down: A comprehensive one-on-one clinical consultation (in-person or secure telehealth) where you can speak freely, veteran-to-veteran.
  • The Translation: A detailed clinical assessment converting your past experiences and current symptoms into medical evidence.
  • The Deliverable: A rigorously crafted Nexus Letter written specifically to meet strict VA standards.

You already gave everything that was asked of you.
Let’s secure what you are owed.

Where We Focus the Fight: Clinical & Transition Support

You don’t need a laundry list of clinical terms—you need to know if we can handle what you are carrying. Whether you are actively fighting the echoes of your service or trying to navigate the complexities of life without a uniform, we have the tools to help you hold the line.

The Unseen Battles; Trauma & Mental Health

You carried the weight, and some of it followed you home. We don’t just treat surface symptoms; we target the root cause.

  • PTSD & Trauma: Processing the events that left a mark, so they stop controlling your present.
  • Anxiety & Stress: Dialing back the hyper-vigilance and managing the physical and mental toll of constant readiness.
  • Depression: Cutting through the fog and isolation to get you moving forward again.

Navigating Life After Service

Stepping out of the uniform doesn’t mean the mission stops—it just loses its clarity. Operating in the civilian world requires a different operational tempo, and we help you find it.

  • Military/Veteran’s Issues & Life Transitions: Bridging the gap between who you were in the service and who you need to be now.
  • Communication Issues: Learning how to effectively translate your thoughts and emotions to a family and civilian world that doesn’t share your background.
  • Men’s Counseling & Issues: A no-nonsense space to tackle the specific pressures, expectations, and realities of modern manhood.

Developing the Next Line; Professional Services

A seasoned leader never stops training their people.

  • Clinical Supervision: Robert provides rigorous, standard-setting supervision for developing clinicians, passing on his clinical mastery and ensuring the next generation of providers is highly competent, grounded, and ready to serve.

Approach

The Tactical Toolbox

We don’t force you into a rigid, predictable mold. We choose the exact clinical methodology required for your specific situation—adapting and adjusting based on evidence-based practices that actually work.

  • Rewiring Survival Responses (CBT): Breaking down the automatic patterns of thinking and behavior that kept you alive downrange but are causing friction back home.
  • Finding Purpose After the Uniform (Existential): Facing the heavy questions of identity, meaning, and reinventing your personal mission after your time in service has ended.
  • The Multi-Tool Approach (Eclectic): Pulling from a diverse range of therapeutic disciplines to adapt to your unique circumstances rather than relying on a single playbook.
  • Building on Existing Fortitude (Strength-Based): Recognizing that you aren’t broken. You already possess immense internal resilience; our job is to uncover it and build upon that foundation.
  • Reclaiming Your Future (Positive Psychology): Shifting the focus from just managing symptoms to actively thriving, fostering psychological growth, and building a life worth living.
  • Sparking Internal Drive (Motivational Interviewing): Clarifying your goals, overcoming hesitation, and tapping into your personal motivation to create real, lasting change on your own terms.

Fees

Clear Pricing. Zero Ambiguity.

When you are trying to get your life back on track, you don’t need hidden fees, confusing billing cycles, or fine print. We keep our rates completely transparent so you know exactly what to expect.

  • Intake Session: $250
  • Individual Therapy Session: $200
  • VA Nexus Letter Package: $500 (Includes deep-dive records review, clinical consultation, full evaluation, and the final evidence-backed letter)
  • Standard Client Letters: $250 (For specific documentation outside of the comprehensive Nexus package)
  • Clinical Supervision: $200

We can all use a little help now and then

SFC IN USA ret., MA, LMHC, MHP

I bring a diverse skill set of life and counseling experience. I grew up with a tumultuous household in a small community. I joined the military at a young age and have lived and worked throughout the world. I have had my own family, raising children weathering many successes and failures in the process. I continue to experience counseling as a client working with the emotions of my past and present to improve my future. My personal experience in therapy enhances my great respect for my clients’ vulnerability in our sessions. I am a fellow traveler in life, as you learn and grow so do I.

I have returned to a quiet rural community because I love the pace, the people, and watching the cycle of life in the fields that grow around me. My daily life is filled with my amazing wife, my elderly dog, and villainous kitten in a farmhouse from the 50’s about a mile out of a small town located centrally in Washington. I am close enough to experience the amazing delights of the city; far enough to be separated from the stress and anxiety urban life brings for me. My hobbies include the outdoors, learning, great food, and time with friends. When not working with clients I spend most of my life dreaming of the next great adventure to experience.

I look forward to our journey together and am excited to help you work through whatever comes next for you in this amazingly complicated thing we call life.
